Holocaust Survivor Fills DMACC Boone Campus Theater

KWBG 04/04/19

BOONE, Iowa—One of the last survivors of the Holocaust visited the Boone Campus of Des Moines Area Community College Thursday and packed the theater with students and community members.  The turnout was to hear the story of Celina Karp Biniaz, who told about growing up in Krakow, Poland, about being on Schindler’s List and about being accidentally sent to Auschwitz.  After World War II, she came to the United States.  She is a graduate of Des Moines North High School and Grinnell College.  The Biniaz presentation is sponsored by DMACC’s new War and Human Experience Series.  her talks are part of a partnership between the War and human Experience program and the Iowa Jewish Historical Society.
