BOONE, Iowa—The Boone County Hospital Board of Trustees voted Friday to phase out Home Health Care Services and Adult Day Care.
Home Care Services has been affiliated with Public Health for many years and offered skilled services including nursing visits, therapies and help with daily personal care. It has allowed patients to remain in their homes while recovering from surgery, injury or managing a chronic disease.
The F. William Beckwith Adult Day Services are located in the Goldthwaite Garvey Family Resource Center on South Linn Street and offered service for adults needing attention for a wide range of illnesses and disabilities. Adult Day Service has been open since 2004.
The phase our of services will be over the next several months and will allow time for patients and clients to have services transferred to other agencies providing comparable services in Boone County. The move will not affect Public Health Services which works with the Boone County Board of Health and is responsible for immunization clinics and communicable disease outbreaks.
The Board’s action was driven by a number of factors including loss of revenue. It’s not known how many employees will be affected.
