IDALS Reports Drop In Retail Gas Prices in Weekly Fuel Report

DES MOINES, Iowa—

The price of retail gasoline prices in Iowa dropped $.05, averaging $2.30 per gallon.

Crude Oil Summary

  • The price of global crude oil fell this week on the West Texas Intermediate (WTI) by $3.53 per barrel over last week, currently priced at $53.40.
  • Brent crude oil fell $3.39 and is currently priced at $59.96.
  • One year ago, WTI crude sold for $53.31 and Brent crude was at $59.71.

Motor Fuels

  • As of Wednesday, January 29, the price of regular unleaded gasoline averaged $2.30 across Iowa according to AAA.
    • Prices fell $.05 from last week’s price and $.23 higher than one year ago.
    • The national average on Wednesday was $2.50 down $.04 from last week’s price.
  • Retail diesel prices in Iowa fell $.04 this week with a statewide average of $2.81.
    • One year ago, diesel prices averaged $2.72 in Iowa.
    • The current Iowa diesel price is $.15 less than the national average of $2.96.
  • Wholesale ethanol prices rose $.04, currently at $1.37.
  • The current Des Moines Terminal/Rack Prices are $1.56 for U87-E10, $1.76 for Unleaded 87 (clear), ULSD#2 is at $1.74, ULSD#1 is at $1.97, and E-70 is priced at $1.43 per gallon.

Heating Fuels

  • Propane prices remain steady for a statewide average of $1.28 per gallon.
  • Home heating oil prices fell $.05, with a statewide average of $2.28 per gallon.
  • Natural Gas prices fell $.04 at the Henry Hub reporting site and currently priced at $1.87/MMbtu.
