James “Tim” Svaleson

BOONE, Iowa—James “Tim” Svaleson, age 69 of Boone, passed away on Wednesday, November 23, 2022 at his home.

James Timothy Svaleson was born in Fort Dodge on August 5, 1953, the son of Raymond Kenneth and Betty (Bonner) Svaleson. He graduated from Boone High School in 1971.

Tim was united in marriage with Debbie Ford in January of 1973. From this union were three children, Kathy, Shawndra and Brandon. The couple later divorced.

Tim worked for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad until his back injury and more recently did asbestos removal. 

Tim was proud to be a part of the Boone County Search and Rescue for several years. He enjoyed drag racing and fast cars, watching boxing and Hawkeye football. He loved Rock N’ Roll music.

Tim was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Kenny Svaleson. He is survived by his children, Kathy Svaleson and Brandon Svaleson of Boone and Shawndra Tracy of Urbandale; grandchildren, Jayde Orsack, Maddie Tracy, Cydnie Svaleson, Axtyn James Svaleson and Hunter James Svaleson; sister, Dennice (Curt) Colvin of Boone; and longtime friend, Sue Wilson of Boone; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Cremation has taken place and services are pending.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to the family.

Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall Streets is in charge of arrangements.
