John Roosa, Administrator, Boone County Landfill and Recycling provides an update on capital projects at the landfill. The force main project is proceeding, but may need an extension on working days. Work remains hindered at the last cell be developed due to wet conditions. The challenge is removing enough leachate to allow work on the base of the cell to continue. Due to wet conditions, Roosa says over 3.4 million gallons of leachate have been pumped and hauled for processing, well over the annual amount of just over a million gallons.
