Jolene Hansen

BOONE, Iowa—Jolene Ann Hansen, daughter of Louis and Irene Wiskus was born June 17, 1945. She passed away on October 12, 2023 at the Eastern Star Masonic Home in Boone, Iowa with her family by her side, at the age of 78 years.

Jolene graduated from Kuemper Catholic High School in Carroll, Iowa in 1963. On October 19, 1963, Jolene was united in marriage to Elmo Hansen at the St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Carroll, Iowa. She later attended DMACC and graduated with a nursing degree in 1986. She worked at the Evangelical Nursing Home and later for the Eastern Star Masonic Home where she later retired.

Jolene loved to go roller skating, flying, dancing, riding motorcycles, going to municipal bands, civil war reenactments, golfing trips, cruises, and date nights with her husband Elmo. She also loved to go camping, getting her hair done by Paula, visiting family and friends, attending church, watching fireworks, bird watching, spending time with her cats, visiting Tom the turkey, but most of all spending time with her grandchildren.

Jolene was preceded in death by her husband Elmo; and her parents. She is survived by her sons: Brent Hansen (Janet Minikis), Bradley Hansen (Trisha Hunter), and Justin Hansen, all of Boone, Iowa; grandchildren: Christopher Hansen, Dustan Hansen, Michael Hunter, and Malory and Lucy Hansen, all of Boone, Iowa; great-grandchildren, Carson and Karley Hansen of Boone, Iowa; and sisters: Evelyn Hacker of Templeton, Iowa and Bonnie Hemple of Edina, Minnesota

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, at Schroeder-Stark-Welin Funeral Home in Boone. Visitation with the family present to greet friends will be from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Interment will be at Linwood Park Cemetery in Boone following the funeral service.
