Jolene Miller

BOONE, Iowa—Jolene L. Miller, 85, of Boone, Iowa, passed away at the Eastern Star Masonic Home in Boone on Wednesday, November 1, 2023. She was born on July 13, 1938, in Boone, Iowa, the daughter of John S. and Opal L. (North) Wade. She attended Boone High School, class of 1955. On July 31, 1955, Jolene was united in marriage to Donald L. Miller at the First Baptist Church in Boone.

Jolene was a stay-at-home mom and homemaker. Jolene had a love for family, friends, traveling, and pets. She and Don had many wonderful trips with family and friends. They traveled to all 50 States as well as Ireland, Norway, Sweden, and Denmark. In later years, Jolene enjoyed taking trips with her three daughters to Omaha and the Amana Colonies.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Donald Miller; parents, John and Opal Wade; sister, Barbara Sandon-McIntyre; niece, Sheri McGinnis, and grand-nephew, Steven Sakellaris.

Jolene is survived by her children: Jamie (Ron) Brown of Boone, IA; Janelle (Larry) Grabill of Boone, IA, and daughter, Michele (Patrick) Havlik of Ames, IA; grandchildren: Kelli (Marcus) Burrier of Des Moines, IA, Lindsay Brown of West Des Moines, IA, Jessica Brown of West Des Moines, IA, Glenn Keffer of Boone, IA, Kristen Sutton of Ankeny, IA, Kalen Keffer of Des Moines, IA, and Logan Chitty of Ames, IA, and eight great-grandchildren: Halle, Riley, Timothy, Connor, Calista, Maebry, Lainey, and June.

Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, at Schroeder-Stark-Welin Funeral Home in Boone, with Pastor Phil Waldo officiating. Visitation with the family present to greet friends will be prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place at Oakwood Cemetery in Moingona following the memorial service.

The family wishes to express their appreciation for the care and concern shown towards Jolene by the nurses and staff of St. Croix Hospice as well as the staff at the Eastern Star Masonic Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to St. Croix Hospice.

Schroeder-Stark-Welin Funeral Home, 609 7th Street, Boone, Iowa is assisting the family with these arrangements.
