Joseph Shadle

Joseph Shadle, 79, Boone, Iowa

BOONE, Iowa—Joseph A. Shadle, age 79, of Boone passed away, Sunday, June 28, 2026, surrounded by his family at the Eastern Star Masonic Home in Boone.

Joe was born August 29, 1946, in Ogden, Iowa, the son of Vernon and Aileen (Rosen) Shadle.

He worked for the Iowa Department of Transportation for 42 years. There he won over the heart of a young lady, Jane Williams. They were united in marriage at the Bethel United Methodist Church in Zearing on June 25, 1978. They made their home in Boone where they had a loving, caring family with two children.

Joe was a fan of all types of racing; NASCAR, Formula One, drag, and boat. He also enjoyed attending car, gun, art and craft shows. Joe was known for collecting a little bit of everything; his collection was built from going to numerous flea markets, thrift stores, and garage sales. He was also an avid photographer/videographer and enjoyed capturing special moments in life; such as birthdays, holidays, vacations, and much more.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jane in 1997; sister, Cynthia Staebler and brother, Tim Shadle.

Joe is survived by his daughter, Bethany (Chris Dudney) Shadle of Boone; son, Kyle (Jenn) Shadle of Holts Summit, MO and their two children, Hadden and Lydia; his four-legged companion, Jake; and his sister-in-law, Joyce (Duane) Howard of Ames.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, August 1st, 2026, from 1:00 to 3:00 at Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel, 1006 6th Street, Boone. Followed by a graveside inurnment service at the Cambridge Cemetery in Cambridge.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall Streets in Boone. Online condolences may be left to Joseph’s family at www.schroedermemorialchapel.com
