KWBG 05/08/23

BOONE, Iowa—June Marie Burge, 87, of Boone, Iowa, passed away on May 6, 2023, in her home surrounded by her loving family. A graveside service for June will be held at Mineral Ridge Cemetery in Ridgeport, Iowa for the family on Tuesday, May 9, 2023, at 11 A.M.

June was born in Des Moines, Iowa, on October 14, 1935, to parents Willard and Ruth Fredregill (Benson.) She attended East High School. June met Dale Burge on a blind date. The two were married in 1953 in Des Moines and moved to Boone shortly after. Over the years, June and Dale called many places home, including Seattle, Washington, and Las Vegas, Nevada. In 1974, the two decided to move back to Boone with their family.

June had many meaningful jobs throughout her life. She worked in advertising for KWBG Radio for many years and also worked for the Boone News Republican. On top of everything, she was a devoted wife and mother to her family.

June was also involved in several organizations, including several quilting groups, most recently the RSVP Quilters. She also participated in her local historical society and was one of the co-founders of Boone’s Pufferbilly Days.

June was very artistic and creative. She loved quilting, pottery, and painting. She also loved being outside, whether it was helping out on the farm, fishing, or camping.

Those left to cherish June’s memory include her daughter Connie Burge; daughter Jeannie (Eric) Anderson, son Mike (Julie) Burge; son Brian (Catherine) Burge; 11 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews; siblings      Jo Ann (Charles) Allen; Janna (Don) McKale; and Will (Laurie) Fredregill.

June is preceded in death by her husband, Dale, her parents, and her infant daughter.

The family would like to extend their deepest thanks to Boone County Hospital and Mary Greeley Hospice for their excellent care and service of June and her family.

Celebrate Life Iowa has been entrusted with the care of June and her family.
