Kay A. Wulf

Kay Wulf, 83, Altoona, Iowa

ALTOONA, Iowa—Kay Ava (Ginter) Wulf was born on April 23, 1942 in Rapid City, South Dakota and passed away with family beside her on March 20, 2026 at Kavanaugh House in Des Moines, Iowa.

Kay loved growing up on a ranch near Faith, South Dakota, riding her favorite horse Blondie. She married the love of her life, Frederick Wulf, on March 9, 1958 in Sturgis, South Dakota. They moved to Boone, Iowa in 1966 where Kay remained until December 2025 when she moved to Altoona, IA. Kay loved to spend time with her family and friends and was very proud of the degree she earned from DMACC, Boone Campus, while raising her family.

Kay is survived by her three children: Cary (Diana) Wulf of Boone, IA; Melody (Larry) Gustafson of Altoona, IA; Bob (Denise) Wulf of Boone, IA. She also leaves behind 9 cherished grandchildren; Joe Wulf (Jamie McDonald); Megan Wulf (Nathan Allen); Crystal Wulf (Andreu Wiltse); Caitlin (Kyle) Jacobsen; Pierce Gustafson; Benett (Amber) Gustafson; Jacob Wulf (Destinee Godwin), Zachary Wulf, and Calista Wulf. Additional survivors include 10 great-grandchildren, 3 sisters, 2 brothers, nieces, nephews, and some special in-laws.

Kay was proceeded in death by her husband, Frederick (Fritz), parents, grandparents, a step-brother, and several in-laws.

A celebration of Kay’s life will be held at the First Free Evangelical Church in Boone beginning at 5:00pm on Friday, March 27, 2026 with a short program at 5:30pm. A light dinner will be provided after the ceremony. Private family internment will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Kavanaugh House of Des Moines, Iowa.
