Keith Dearborn

KWBG 09/03/24

BOONE, Iowa—Keith Edward Dearborn, age 66, passed away on August 31, 2024 at the University of Iowa Hospital.

Keith was born in Boone, Iowa on February 10, 1958, the son of Emmett and Joyce (Mitchell) Dearborn. He was the oldest of four siblings. He grew up to become a wonderful person who loved and cared about all people. He would do anything for anybody, and everyone loved him instantly. It was his loving mother who taught Keith to cook and clean alongside her. He became quite the good cook too and it became one of his passions in life.

One of Keith’s biggest loves in life was his dog, George. A true companion and dear friend to Keith.

Keith’s other interests included coloring and drawing. He also wrote poetry which he kept in a book along with writings about his many adventures. He liked to write about things like hitchhiking, which he did his whole life. He liked to play guitar and was in a band in high school. He liked his coffee black as tar with his Marlboros. #7 from McDonalds with no mustard on his burgers, and a large diet coke was his go to order, and 3 Musketeers was his favorite candy bar. Keith went to the YMCA every day to walk at least one mile and exercise. While he was in the nursing home, he showed off his karate moves to all the nurses, which they couldn’t get enough of. He was a character, and had a good soul, and he will be missed.

Keith was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his siblings; Terry Dearborn of Boone, Mark Dearborn of Ames, and Lisa Dearborn of Boone; many nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

A private memorial service for Keith will take place at a later date.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall Streets in Boone. Online condolences may be left to Keith’s family at www.schroedermemorialchapel.com .
