with us on the senior spotlight on KWBG, heading to Madrid and get a chance to talk to Paige Richards today and talk about school, we'll talk athletics. I'm gonna ask her some tough questions just to make all of Matt, no, I'm not gonna do that Paige, I promised you I wouldn't do that. Tell me about school so far though Miss Senior, you get a chance to have your last year at Madrid, how's it going the first month in some? Um, it's just going pretty good, pretty easy going so far. All right, tell me about some classes, what do we take in here first semester? Um, just the core classes, I'm not taking anything extra. Okay, did you set up your schedule so you'd have an easier senior year? How'd you set things up? Yeah, I have a lot of off times, so I'm just taking what I need to. I got you, I got you. Okay, what are we enjoying that we're taking right now? There's gotta be something that's fun.
Um. Oh, she's really thinking about this, now I'm getting nervous. Paige, there's gotta be one class you enjoy going to, come on now. My favorite classes are probably my online DMACC classes. Okay, what are we taking online with DMACC? I'm taking a, insert a lit, and psychology. Okay, what now, what's the best part about online classes Paige? Cause everybody always gives me an opinion, but give me yours, what's the best part about taking online stuff? It's kinda just at your own pace. Okay. And you get to do it in your jammies too, right? Yep. Yeah, that doesn't hurt. I didn't figure, I didn't figure. Well, tell me about volleyball so far, as you guys have been busy, found out who your post season opponent's gonna be. You're gonna head to South Central Calhoun, but how about the season, what do you think? We had a pretty good season so far. We've always had a pretty young team, so it's nice to see it all just kinda come together. There's been some ups and downs, but I feel like overall we're in a pretty good spot. All right, so you gotta tell me, what was it like that first volleyball match knowing it was your first, last one of your senior year? It was obviously sad, but we played really well that game. Our beginning of the season, we came out really strong, so that was just really refreshing to see. Have you, do you take all that stuff in Paige, like senior stuff? I mean, homecomings and first volleyball and all that. I mean, are you kinda nostalgic with that? Yeah, for the most part. Why do you, that doesn't sound like your nostalgic Paige. It sounds like me reminding you about it may be made you nostalgic. I feel like it had to hit me yet. Really, so does it still feel like you got another year to go? Yeah, kind of. Okay, so has senior, It still hit me on senior night. You think so on senior, okay, senior night. So what about then, you think it'll hit you when we start getting into the winter season and then into the new year? Yeah, probably. Okay, all right, probably, that's fair, that's fair. All right, so we were talking track earlier and you gotta tell this story, cause I'm still shocked. But if I told you, I said, I'm gonna ask you a tough question. I'm gonna ask you, if you could only pick to run the 100 or the 200 this year, what would you pick? I thought you'd pick 200, no question. You said nah.
No, it would definitely be the 100. Why do you pick the 100 over the 200? Cause the 200 is just like the perfect awkward distance. The 100 is just you're dead sprinting it, no questions asked. And would you really take the four over the two? Yeah. Does coach growth us know this? No. Okay, well, she does now. So Kelly, there you go, you just found out something. Paige says no more 200s, give me all the 400s. How about this? Oh, I got one for you, Paige. The four by four or the four by one?
Based off of our team, I would say the four by four. Okay. Four by one is pretty fun though. Yeah, but I feel like our team would be a lot stronger in the four by four. You think you're four by four to be stronger? I got you. Okay, so we'll get back. I wanna talk some more track here in a little bit, but I gotta find out some future plans for you Paige. What's the plans? What's the plans once you graduate in May? What do you plan on doing? And give us the path a little bit. I wanna go into nursing, so a four year BSN program, and then obviously running somewhere. Okay, where would you wanna run? I'm still kinda narrowing that down a little bit. I have some choices, but still not quite sure. Okay, now, does it matter how close you are to home? Like, do you wanna be close-ish? Do you wanna be far? What about that? Yeah, somewhere either in Iowa or very close to Iowa, so. Okay, so do you have any contenders? Do you got a top three list you can give us? I've really been looking at Wayne and Minnesota State and a little bit of UNI, so. Okay, so you're still a little ways away from home though, huh? Yeah. All right, I gotcha. Now, you said you wanted to go into nursing. Is there a particular field that you like? Cause I mean, that can be pretty broad. Yeah.
Not really, that's something I'm gonna figure out. Okay, I got, guess what, Paige, you don't have to come up with it today, how about that? I won't make you come up with it with a complete nursing degree that you wanna get, but that sounds fun. So has this been something you've always wanted to do? Yeah. Just from a long time ago, did you have like relatives or something that are nurses or? I don't really know where it came from, but yeah, something I've just always wanted to do. Okay, so I always ask a good memory from Madrid, and I know that's always a broad question because people are like, well, I've had fun with my friends, there's athletic stuff that we could do. You got a couple memories for me, Paige, when you kinda think back on your four years at Madrid High School?
I'd probably say winning conferences and districts and stay, or in track.
That was a pretty fun year. Yeah. Oh, you're racking your brain. Now, Paige, you're gonna get asked all these questions, remember, for all your senior nights, they're gonna be like, Paige, give me a memory. So I'm kind of giving you the preview to that, right? I haven't thought that for you. You haven't thought? Well, I mean, you know, not that senior night's coming up or anything, right? No big deal, no big deal. What are some things you're looking forward to, Paige, still your senior year? I mean, I know we've already got through, you know, almost all of our volleyball season, we've got, obviously, through homecoming and stuff. What are some other things you look forward to? I'm looking forward to track this year. I have high expectations. And just being able to enjoy the laughs of everything with my friends. Okay, speaking of, what do you and the friends like to go do if you're not worried about track and you're not worried about, you know, school as well? What do you guys like to go do? Well, in the summer, it's always boating or shopping or something like that. But otherwise, just football games and taking in all the activities that we can. Okay, where do you guys like to go shop? Like, if I could give you Paige the perfect place to go shop and I say you get unlimited money, where are you heading? The mall. Just immediately. Okay, no particular store, any shop or anything? All right, I also, what is, you got to tell me this, Paige, and maybe it's not big for you. What's up with the target love? Everybody loves going to Target. I don't know, that's a good question. Is it, because you can just like spend hours in there for some reason? I'm not a Target person. Really? Okay, good. So I need you to stop over and explain that to my 13-year-old that not everything needs to be at Target. Can you help me with that? You didn't say yes, Paige, you need to help me. You're still not saying yes. Okay, thank you, I appreciate that. All right, Paige, I'm gonna let you go with one last thing. I always like to ask my seniors to give a little piece of advice to incoming freshmen. Paige, if somebody wanted to have a great four years at Madrid High School, give me a piece of advice. What would you tell them to do? Do not take anything for granted. You don't realize what you have until it's not there. Good advice, good advice. Paige, thank you so much for some time in the senior spotlight. Have a great rest of your senior year. You too. That's Paige Richards again joining us, Madrid Senior on our senior spotlight.
