BOONE, Iowa—The newest member of the Boone Police Department was sworn in at the Monday meeting of the Boone City Council. Tina Ann Lair-Van Meter took the oath of office and fills a vacancy on the department. Chief John Wiebold says the Lair-Van Meter joined the most recent group of candidates and quickly became a leading candidate. She will begin departmental training and will need to attend the Law Enforcement Academy.
