Lane Closures on U.S. 30 at the South Skunk River bridge in Ames will begin at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 27

KWBG 02/25/25

JEFFERSON, Iowa – Feb. 25, 2025 – If you travel on U.S. 30 over the South Skunk River bridge in Ames you need to be aware of some upcoming nighttime construction work that may slow down your trip.

Beginning at 6 p.m. on Thursday night, Feb. 27, weather permitting, crews will close the inside lanes of U.S. 30 at the South Skunk River bridge. Work will take place to remove and replace a sign truss on the east side of the bridge and beams will be set on the bridge under construction.

A full closure of westbound U.S. 30 will take place around 10 p.m. When the roadway is closed you will follow a marked detour route using northbound South Dayton Avenue, westbound South 16th Street, and southbound U.S. 69/South Duff Avenue to reach westbound U.S. 30.

Short-term road closures of up to 20 minutes on eastbound U.S. 30 will occur so a sign truss on the east side of the bridge can be removed.

All lanes of U.S. 30 will be open to traffic by 5 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 28.
