Lass sets school record in high jump

Samantha Lass soared to new heights for the Ogden girls’ track team, setting a school record and securing 1st place in the high jump with a leap of 5-04, at Nevada Monday, May 12.

Samantha Lass soared to new heights for the Ogden girls’ track team, setting a school record and securing 1st place in the high jump with a leap of 5-04, at Nevada Monday, May 12. 

The shuttle hurdle relay team, consisting of Aubrey Leonard, Hazel Friedrichsen, Paysen Graden, and Alena Wilson, also won, finishing 1st with a time of 1:12.04. 

The 4×100-meter relay team, featuring Leonard, Sydney King, Breaunna Wenger, and Taydem Graden, also clinched 1st place with a time of 51.4 seconds. 

Ogden finished 5th overall with 78.3 points, and Boone was meet champions with 125.3 points.

Boys run at Pleasantville 

The Ogden boys track team competed at Pleasantville Monday. May 12, though they did not run a complete team. 

The shuttle hurdle relay of Weston Sundell, Carson Muggenberg, Ryker Kruse, and Treyton Mitchell finished 2nd with a time of 1:07.48. 

Ogden finished 7th overall with 38 points, while host Pleasantville won the meet with 159 points.

State qualifying meet is Thursday 

Both the girls’ and boys’ teams are preparing for the Class 2A state qualifying meet, which will be held at Ogden on Thursday, May 15.  

The Bulldogs will compete against teams from East Sac County, Greene County, Carroll Kuemper Catholic, Manson-Northwest Webster, Maple Valley/Anthon-Oto/Charter Oak-Ute, Odebolt-Arthur/Battle Creek-Ida Grove, Roland-Story, South Central Calhoun, Southeast Valley, Van Meter, and Woodward-Granger. 

The Iowa High School Track & Field Championships will be Thursday, May 22, through Saturday, May 24, at Drake Stadium in Des Moines.

Previous: Marty Lamoureux, Board Member, Boone County Historical Society talks about some of the projects and exhibits for the Historical Society. We started by talking about tours and visitors and they are getting a number of school classes paying a visit. She also talked about a recent review of the Historical Society collection for Boone Biblical College and recommendations received about preservation of the collection. A big project is the buildings elevator. There is a need to replace the elevator and upgrade some of the heating and cooling systems and funds will be needed to accomplish those high priority projects. Aired Wednesday, May 14, 2025.
