Ledges Experiences Record Camping Numbers in June

KWBG 07/06/23

BOONE, Iowa—The 4th of July holiday is now in the rearview mirror and Andy Bartlett, Park Manager at the Ledges State Park, says camping numbers continue to soar. In a press release this week, Bartlett reviewed some numbers from the month of June. He reported that June closed out with an average occupancy of 72.4% for all sites. Bartlett says the occupancy level is an average for every site and every night of the week during the entire month of June. He reported a total of 2,411 individuals camping at the park in June. Based on reservations and not including walk-in receipts, visitors came from 27 different states and two Canadian provinces. Bartlett says June was the single busiest month for camping in the history of the park.

Traffic through the park remained high with 12,512 vehicles passing through Canyon Drive during June, averaging 447 vehicles a day. Bartlett noted that Canyon Drive was closed two days in June as a result of a couple of heavy rain events that caused some short term flooding on Pea’s Creek.

There are a number of free events coming up this weekend with Naturalis Luke Mullens. Friends of the Ledges will have their general store open.
