BOONE, Iowa—The Annual Meeting for the Ledges State Park was held at the Boone City Hall Auditorium last Thursday with roughly three to four dozen people on hand. Many were members of the Friends of the Ledges and heard from Ledges Park Manager Andy Bartlett.
Bartlett reviewed funding sources for park operations and also park projects, which apply to all parks statewide and are led by the Iowa DNR Engineers. A big project accomplished in 2025 at the Ledges, the east campground restroom project at a cost of more than $431,000. But Bartlett also noted there were several additional projects that were completed at a cost of just under $100,000. Many were handled by volunteers or had costs covered by grants and funding from Friends of the Ledges.
As for projects for 2026, one of the highlights will be the Oak Woods Shelter which has been blocked off for a couple of years.

Bartlett also noted that data shared about campground usage from 2025. One of the highlights for us as staff is researching the origins of where our campers come from. For the first time in the park’s history, campers from all 50 states registered for overnight stays in the campground!

Bartlett also took time to recognize the Volunteer of the Year for 2025, selected by Park Staff. That honor goes to Karl Jungbluth.
