BOONE, Iowa—Work on the road and parking lot resurfacing at the Ledges State Park is virtually completed and Park Manager Andy Bartlett reports the campground has reopened and the rest of the park will be open Tuesday, September 1st. A formal Ribbon Cutting will be held at the Canyon Entrance, Saturday, September 5th at 12:00 p.m.

While the contractor was handling the resurfacing of the road and parking lots, the staff did take care of several small projects. The campground shower building wall was completed this week. Gaps in the block were tuck pointed, cleaned, and finally primer and paint were applied.

Bartlett also said other projects were completed, like the installation of new on-trail signage. Volunteer Neal has been working hard, crafting each of these signs by hand and they sure look good out on the trails!

Bartlett also said Trails Foreman Alex put the finishing touches on the Prairie Trails bridge replacement. Not only will the bridge be more stable for hikers, but much needed erosion control under the bridge will help stabilize the soil as well.
