The Ogden softball team wrapped up a busy day at the Underwood Tournament Saturday, June 14, with a 1-2 record, highlighted by a strong finish in a 6-4 win over a tough Griswold squad.
Game 1: No. 10 Missouri Valley 5, Ogden 3
Ogden opened the tournament against No. 10 Missouri Valley and gave the ranked team a battle before falling 5-3.
Grace Christensen and Harleigh Janssen each tallied two hits, while Lauren Matthews drove in two runs with a key hit.
Breaunna Wenger, Camryn Askelsen, and Clara Kruse also added hits.
Katie Wilcoxson took the loss in the circle, striking out two.
Game 2: Lewis Central 11, Ogden 6
In the second game, Lewis Central pulled away late for an 11-6 win.
Kruse led the Bulldogs with two hits and three RBIs.
Sophia Moorman added a hit, two runs scored, and an RBI, while Aubrey Leonard and Sophie Seligman each drove in a run.
Christensen added another hit, and Kruse recorded a strikeout in the loss.
Game 3: Ogden 6, Griswold 4
Ogden closed the day with a gritty 6-4 win over Griswold (13-2), using early offense and clutch pitching to secure the victory.
The Bulldogs scored twice in each of the first two innings and added runs in the fifth and seventh to stay ahead.
Leonard had a standout performance, going 2-for-2 with a home run, four runs scored, two RBIs, and two stolen bases.
Wenger added two hits, a run, and a stolen base, while Sophie Seligman contributed two hits and two RBIs.
Janssen and Askelsen each added a hit and an RBI, and Christensen chipped in a hit and a run.
Wilcoxson earned the win in relief, striking out three and helping Ogden close out the day on a high note.
With the tournament behind them, Ogden moves to 8-9 overall and 4-6 in West Central Conference play.
The Bulldogs return home tonight for a conference matchup against West Central Valley (7-7 overall, 4-4 conference).
