BOONE, Iowa—Linda Ann (Phipps) Norley, age 79 of Boone, passed away with her family by her side on Monday, May 16, 2022 at the Boone County Hospital.
Linda was born on June 29, 1942 in Boone, the daughter of Kenneth E. and Mary “Louise” (Quarnstrom) Phipps. She attended Hibbing High School in Hibbing, MN. Linda was a Department Manager at the Walmart in Ames and Boone for 20 years.
Linda was a great cook, always feeding an army of people and making room for more at her supper table. She was a mom and grandma to many kids that were not her own. In recent years, it was a huge disappointment to Linda that she was not able to cook due to health complications. Linda did a lot of canning, specifically pickles and jams.
Linda enjoyed crocheting blankets and hand towels, putting together jigsaw puzzles and shopping. She was quite a bookworm, enjoying a variety of genres especially Stephen King Novels.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Jacob Allen Clements; brother, Terrence Phipps; and sister-in-law, Faye Phipps.
She is survived by her children, Lynn (Paul) Iverson of Nora Springs, Daniel Norley, Gayle (Jesse) Janes and Joyce (Michael) Mayfield, all of Boone, Darold (Sherri) Norley of Omaha, NE and Shannon Hubby of Boone; 11 grandchildren, Sara, Eric, Nathaniel, Mike, Matthew, Danielle, Ryan, Tony, Isaiah, Nora and Waylon; 9 great grandchildren; sister, Colleen (John) Spears; brother, Terril “Fatsy” Phipps; sister-in-law, Jackie Phipps; 4 nieces and 4 nephews; along with all her family and friends she has taken under wing over the years.
Per Linda’s wishes, there will be a Private Family Celebration of Life at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to the Ericson Public Library in honor of Linda’s love for books.
