Madrid boys’ cross country finishes third at Jewell

The Madrid boys’ cross country team fnished third in the team standings behind only Lynnville-Sully and host South HamiltoThursday, October 8, at the South Hamilton Invitational in Jewell. 

The Tigers scored 102 points, narrowly trailing South Hamilton’s 98 points while placing ahead of Ogden (104) and North Polk (109) in a tightly contested race. 

Caleb Berberich led Madrid’s effort, finishing eighth overall in a time of 17:26.07. 

Jacob Brandhorst placed 11th in 17:38.18. 

Hudson White crossed the finish line in 18:00.95 to place 14th overall and give Madrid three runners among the top 15 finishers. 

Berberich, Brandhorst and White all finished within 35 seconds of one another. 

The Tigers’ fourth scoring runner was Kris Petersen, who placed 36th in 19:05.77.  

Isaac Boes rounded out the scoring five, finishing 53rd in 19:57.07. 

Aiden Titus added a 62nd-place finish in 20:29.24, while Sean Udelhoven came across in 20:31.50 to place 65th overall.

Madrid will return to action on Thursday, October 15, at the West Central Activities Conference Meet at Adair-Casey/Guthrie Center High School.
