
The 10th‑ranked Madrid Tigers boys’ basketball team earned a 52–43 road win over Earlham in West Central Conference play Friday, January 30.
Madrid trailed 13–11 after the opening quarter, but a 15–6 run flipped the game, and Madrid carried a 26–19 halftime lead.
The Tigers held Earlham to just five third‑quarter points, building a commanding 37–24 advantage after the third quarter.
Earlham made a late push in the fourth quarter, but Madrid ultimately secured the nine‑point victory.
Madrid was powered by Emerson Bridgewater who had 13 points on 4-of-8 shooting and was 5-of-6 at the free throw line.
Logan Bogardus scored 13 points, grabbed 13 rebounds, made 5-of-6 free throws and had a steal.
Jevyn Severson had 9 points, 8 rebounds, 2 offensive boards, a block and 2 assists.
Zach Newell contributed 5 rebounds and two blocks, and Max Fowler added 2 assists.
With the win, Madrid improves to 13–4 overall and 8–3 in the West Central Conference, staying in the upper half of the league standings.
Earlham drops to 10–8 overall and 6–5 in conference play.
Madrid returns home to host West Central Valley (12–6, 5–6) at Madrid High School tonight with the girls at 6:15 and the boys at 7:30 p.m.
