
The Madrid Tigers boys’ basketball team topped Central Decatur, 91–44, in a Class 1A district matchup Friday, February 20, at Madrid High School.
Madrid opened the game on a 22–4 first‑quarter run, and by halftime, the Tigers had built a 51–16 lead.
The advantage grew to 66–34 at the end of the third quarter as Madrid continued to dominate.
Jevyn Severson delivered 29 points on 10-of-14 shooting, including 2-of-3 on three-pointers and a perfect 7-of-7 at the line.
He also controlled the boards, finishing with 10 rebounds (2 offensive) to record a double-double.
Max Fowler scored 16 points on a 7-for-8 shooting night, while going 2-for-2 at the free throw stripe.
Logan Bogardus knocked down 5-of-6 three-pointers and finished with 15 points on 5-of-7 overall shooting.
Bogardus also dished 7 assists with only one turnover, posting a 7.0 assist-to-turnover ratio.
Zach Newell had 5 rebounds, 2 offensive, and 2 blocks while Emerson Bridgewater added 5 rebounds, 1 offensive, 1 block, and 3 steals.
Bridgewater posted 7 assists and Newell contributed 2 assists.
With the win, Madrid advances at 19–4 on the season.
Central Decatur concludes its year at 14–9.
Madrid now prepares to host Martensdale‑St. Marys (18–6) on Tuesday, February 24, in a Class 1A district semifinal.
