
The Madrid Tigers boys’ basketball team continued its unbeaten start to the season Monday, December 8, with a 65-28 victory over Eagle Grove at Madrid High School.
The win moves Madrid to 4-0 overall, while Eagle Grove falls to 1-3.
Madrid jumped out to an early lead, outscoring Eagle Grove 16-7 in the first quarter.
After a slower second period, the Tigers exploded in the second half, putting up 22 points in the third quarter and 19 more in the fourth to seal the win.
Emerson Bridgewater led the Tigers, scoring 19 points on 8-of-10 shooting, including three three-pointers.
He also added five rebounds, two steals, and two assists.
Jevyn Severson tallied 18 points, went a perfect 4-for-4 from the free-throw line, and pulled down five rebounds while dishing out four assists.
Zach Newell contributed nine points and led the team on the glass with nine rebounds, including four offensive boards.
Logan Bogardus and Max Fowler chipped in six points each, while Fowler added seven rebounds.
Kolbie Owens led the way with five assists, and Severson added four.
Madrid now turns its attention to a road test tonight against Pleasantville (0-2).
Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m. at Pleasantville High School.
