The Madrid boys’ basketball team picked up a big conference win Friday, December 19, defeating West Central Valley at Stuart, 51-41.
The Tigers led 12-8 after the first quarter and held a slim 21-19 advantage at halftime.
Madrid extended the lead to 37-31 after three quarters and sealed the win with a strong finish.
Jevyn Severson had 30 points (12/18 FG, 6/9 FT), 9 rebounds (6 offensive) and 2 steals.
Emerson Bridgewater had 9 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists.
Max Fowler had 6 points, 3/6 FG.
St. Edmond 47, Madrid 38
The Tigers returned to the court Saturday, December 20, for a non-conference matchup against Fort Dodge St. Edmond at Iowa Central Community College but fell 47-38.
Jevyn Severson had12 points (5/8 FG), 5 rebounds and 4 assists.
Logan Bogardus had 9 points (3/7 FG, 3/6 3PT) and 4 rebounds.
Emerson Bridgewater had 5 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists.
Madrid now sits at 6-3 overall and 2-2 in the conference.
Madrid travels to Ogden on Friday, January 2, for a conference doubleheader.
