Madrid boys top Ogden in conference play

After a tightly contested first quarter, the Madrid Tigers boys’ basketball team pulled away for a 64–48 win over Ogden in West Central Conference play Tuesday, February 3, at Madrid High School.

After a tightly contested first quarter, the Madrid Tigers boys’ basketball team pulled away for a 64–48 win over Ogden in West Central Conference play Tuesday, February 3, at Madrid High School.  

The teams were locked in a 18–18 tie after the first quarter, but Madrid surged ahead with a 16–10 second‑quarter run to take a 34–28 halftime lead.  

Madrid extended the margin to 51–36 entering the fourth, where the Tigers closed out their tenth conference victory. 

Jevyn Severson poured in 35 points on a 16‑for‑22 shooting night.  

Severson added eight rebounds (three offensive), two steals, and four made free throws. 

Logan Bogardus scored 12 points, hitting 5‑of‑11 from the field and adding two three‑pointers.  

He also contributed four assists and three rebounds. 

Emerson Bridgewater scored eight points while supplying eight rebounds, four assists, two steals, and a block.  

Max Fowler added six rebounds, including one offensive board, and Kolbie Owens had five assists. 

For Ogden, Brayden Miller scored16 points on 5‑for‑11 shooting and a perfect 6‑for‑6 at the free‑throw line. 

Nate Swisher had 8 points on 3‑for‑5 shooting. 

Colson Carson scored 8 points, including 2‑for‑4 from three, and Jase Coleman added 7 points. 

The Tigers improved to 15–4 overall and 10–3 in the conference, while Ogden dropped to 4-15 overall and 1-12 in league play. 

The Tigers return home Friday, February 6, for Senior Night, hosting Interstate 35 (6–11, 3–8) at approximately 7:30 p.m. following the girls game. 

The Bulldogs travel Friday to face Earlham (11–8, 7–5) in West Central Conference play.
