
The Madrid boys’ track and field team won the 4×100-meter relay Thursday, April 30, finishing fourth overall with 86 points at the Van Meter Invitational.
Earlham claimed the team title with 131 points, while host Van Meter finished second with 96 points.
Woodward‑Granger narrowly edged Madrid for third with 88.5 points.
The 4×100‑meter relay team of Loken Velky, Jacob Farrell, Jake Sawyer and Tyler Sonnenfelt captured first place with a winning time of 43.85.
The same group followed up with a third‑place finish in the 4×200 relay, clocking 1:33.10.
Tyler Sonnenfelt earned a second‑place finish in the 100‑meter dash, crossing the line in 11.38 seconds.
Caleb Berberich added a third‑place finish in the 800-meter run, running 2:08.77, while Hudson White placed third in the 3200-meter run with a time of 11:04.35.
Jeven Severson finished second in the shot put with a throw of 52‑6.25 and third in the discus at 139‑6.
Madrid also placed third in the sprint medley relay, as Sander Nelson, Velky, Sonnenfelt and Sawyer combined for a time of 1:38.60.
In the distance relays, the 4×800-meter relay team of Henry Hudnall, Kris Peterson, Cavin Pehl and Berberich earned third place with a time of 8:36.57.

The Tigers will be back in action Tuesday, May 5, when they compete at the West Central Activities Conference Meet in Guthrie Center.
