
The Madrid Tigers girls’ basketball team couldn’t keep pace with Van Meter, falling 64-30, on Tuesday, December 16, in a West Central Activities Conference game at Madrid High School.
Lauren Dvorak led Madrid with 12 points, shooting 5-of-14 from the field and hitting two three-pointers.
She also grabbed 6 rebounds and blocked 2 shots.
Laura Eagleton added 9 points on 4-of-11 shooting, including one three-pointer, and had 11 rebounds and a steal.
Samantha Springer chipped in 4 points, 3 rebounds, and an assist.
Mayzie Surratt led the team in assists with 4, while Dvorak and Springer combined for three more.
The loss drops Madrid to 5-3 overall and 1-2 in conference play, while Van Meter improves to 4-1 overall and 3-1 in the WCAC.
The Tigers will travel to Stuart Friday, December 19, to face West Central Valley (1-5 overall, 1-4 WCAC) in another conference matchup.
Tip-off is set for 6:00 p.m. with the boys’ game to follow.
