
The Madrid Tigers girls’ basketball team clawed its way back to the .500 mark Monday , February 2, with a 34–31 home victory over West Central Valley.
The matchup was tight from the opening tip.
The score was 6–6 after the first quarter and remained tied 14–14 at halftime.
Madrid held a narrow 21–19 lead heading into the final quarter, but the Tigers were able to edge past the Wildcats.
Laura Eagleton led Madrid with 12 points—all from beyond the arc—knocking down 4 of 8 from three and going 4‑for‑10 overall.
She added four rebounds and two steals.
Mayzie Surratt scored 10 points on efficient shooting (2‑for‑4, including a three) while going a perfect 5‑for‑5 at the free‑throw line.
She also grabbed six rebounds, three of them on the offensive glass, and added two steals and two assists.
Lauren Dvorak added six points on 3‑for‑5 shooting and had nine rebounds and a block.
She also recorded two assists.
Audrey Brown and Samantha Springer also finished with two assists each.
The Tigers improved to 9–9 overall and 3–9 in the West Central Conference.
West Central Valley is now 7–12 overall and 4–9 in the conference.
Madrid returns to action tonight at home for a West Central Conference doubleheader against Ogden with the girls game: 6:15 p.m. and the boys game at approximately 7:30 p.m.
