
The Madrid Tigers girls’ basketball team turned a tight contest into a commanding victory Friday, January 2, defeating Ogden, 44-23, in a West Central Activities Conference matchup at Ogden.
The game started with Ogden holding a slim 8-6 lead after the first quarter.
But then Madrid had a run of 21 consecutive points spanning the second and third quarters.
By halftime, Madrid had seized control at 24-8, and they never looked back, stretching the margin to 34-14 after three quarters.
For Madrid, Laura Eagleton poured in 17 points on 7-of-15 shooting, including three triples.
Lauren Dvorak tallied 15 points and 13 rebounds, with five offensive boards and three steals.
Samantha Springer added 5 points and 4 assists, while Audrey Brown contributed 6 rebounds and 4 assists.
Mayzie Surratt made her mark on the glass with 9 rebounds and 3 steals.
For Ogden, Grace Christensen and Dakota Jones paced the Bulldogs with 5 points each.
Anna Wilson chipped in 4 points and 5 rebounds.
With the win, Madrid improves to 6-2 overall and 2-4 in conference play, while Ogden falls to 0-10 (0-6 conference).
Madrid will look to keep rolling tonight when they host Ankeny Christian (1-3) in a non-conference matchup.

The girls tip at 6 p.m. with the boys to follow at approximately 7:30 p.m.
