09/07/26
Officers were called to assist with making contact with parked vehicle owners that were parked along the parade route. 2 owners notified by phone who voluntarily moved their vehicles.
Officer made a traffic stop for speed in the 600 block of South Kennedy. Driver was given a warning.
Officer stopped to assist a vehicle parked blocking the roadway East 3rd and Cedar Streets. Vehicle was occupied, officer checked paperwork, no further action taken.
Officer made a traffic stop for speed and no front plate 900 block of South Kennedy. Warning given.
2 Officers assisted with escorting the Labor Day Parade along the route.
Citizen turned in a lost android cell phone.
Officer discovered a man standing at the intersection of Highway 210 & Kennedy holding a sign and an empty gas can. Officer spoke with the man and learned he was trying to make his way to Jewell Iowa. Officer provided a ride to the man to Wal-Mart in Boone and he could continue his journey from there.
Officer was asked by Boone County to look for a male on the high trestle walking trail who had suffered a flat tire and was confused about his location. Officer found the male on the West Side of the Bridge. Officer was able to fit the bike in the back of the patrol car and give the man a ride to Merle Hay Road and I-80.
Officer attempted to locate a male and his daughter for an incident in the city of Boone.
Officer performed a traffic stop for tailgating
Officer received a call from a male at Meadow Estates who believed he had been shot by a bb gun the previous evening. Officer investigated the scene and took pictures of the man’s wound on his back. This is an ongoing investigation.

Officer coordinated the return of a found cell phone to its proper owner.
Officer spoke with a new Madrid resident via telephone regarding a no contact order.
Officer assisted Madrid Fire on a house fire at Meadow Estates.
Officer spoke with DHS on an ongoing case
Officer received a report of trucks revving their engines for no reason on 2nd and Water Street. Officers will watch for the trucks and issue citations if needed.

Officer responded to the Madrid Home for a fire alarm. Was advised by staff that it was a false alarm.

Officers advised Madrid a resident of potential options to help with her junior high schooler and his future success in sports.
Officer was advised of a reckless driver potentially coming into town from the north, but was unable to locate the vehicle as there was said to be a nine-minute time delay.
Officer assisted Madrid Fire/Rescue and Boone County Ambulance, with a medical call east of town on Highway 210.

Officer responded to the elementary parking lot for a report of a possible accident and a disabled vehicle in the lot. It was determined that a vehicle cut the corner a bit too tight and struck the curb, puncturing the sidewall. The driver was ok and had a tow truck in route.
Officer received a call from the administration of the Madrid Home, they recently terminated an employee and the employee had an episode towards her supervisor, admin also advised the female was calling residents to tell them of her dismissal. Admin asked she be trespassed from the property. Officer was able to contact the female by phone and advised her she is trespassed from all properties owned by the Madrid Home.
Officer was advised of a reckless driver coming through Madrid. Officer was able to see the vehicle for a short period of time and the vehicle did not commit any infractions.

Officer responded to a two-vehicle accident at Maple Ridge and North Kennedy Avenue. Officer assisted with information exchange and issued warnings to both drivers.
Officer performed a welfare check on 7th Street. Subject was OK.
Officer assisted in locating a 12-year-old that ran away after an argument at home.

Officer responded to the 900 block of South Kennedy Avenue, to assist with a property retrieval.
Officer responded to the 800 block of East Second Street, on a welfare check.
9/15/26
Officer responded to a downed line on Highway 17. Officer provided traffic control until fire and city maintenance were able to reopen the road.
Officer assisted a stranded motorist in the middle of East 9th Street. After Hoyt brothers responded, we were able to push the vehicle back into the driveway.
Officer investigated a theft from Caseys. Officer was able to locate the suspect, return to the store to pay, as well as trespassed the suspect from Caseys.
Officer responded to a vehicle traveling in the wrong lane on Highway 17. Officer was unable to locate the vehicle.
Officer responded to a drunk driver on Maple Ridge. Upon investigating, it was just a distracted driver. Driver was advised to pay better attention.
Officer took a call about possible dependent care abuse from the elderly. Victim chose not to report.
Officer assisted a resident with help from a potential identity theft scam. Advised them of options.

Officer returned a call to a subject requesting information on an accident that occurred on the 13th.
Officer spoke with a Madrid Schools bus driver about a student riding an electric scooter recklessly. Officer spoke with the young man after school.
Officer stopped a vehicle for speeding in the 700 block of East North Street. The driver, an Israel Maldonado of Huxley, was issued a citation for speeding and a verbal warning for a license issue.
Officer was dispatched by Boone County to Highway 210 to watch for a reckless driver called in by another driver, Officer was out of position and the subject vehicle had already passed through town heading southbound on Highway 17. Officer asked that Granger Police and Dallas County be notified to look for the reckless driver.
A juvenile and his mother came into the police department and reported another juvenile was throwing rocks at his E-Scooter. Officer visited the juvenile and while with the parents told him he is to stay away from the other child. Officer advised he is not to go to his house and do not interact with him if they are out in public. The juvenile understood and it will be reinforced by his parents.

Officer advised residents in the 900 block of South Kennedy Avenue, regarding a neighborhood dispute.
09/19/26
Officer responded to the area of the high school for an open line 911 call. Officer checked the area but was unable to locate anyone in need of assistance. Due to the large number of people present for a game and no other calls received, lead the officer to be believe it was an errant call.
Officer assisted with traffic control for a very large group of motorcyclists passing through town on a charity ride.
Officer took a report of a scammer claiming to be with the Story County Sheriff’s office. The victim used Apple Pay to pay an appearance bond for a family member that was arrested in Story County. Be aware that Police and Sheriff’s departments do not call to solicit bond money.

Officer assisted Madrid resident with getting two dogs back into his possession that took it upon themselves to go on a hiatus from home.
Officer responded to The Cedars on a fall. Patient was transported to BCH for further evaluation.
