Officer received another call of a suspicious vehicle parked in front of a residence. Officer checked it every day last week and did not locate the vehicle. Officer will give the area extra patrol until the vehicle is located and the driver identified.
Officer received an email from a Madrid resident, bringing him up to date on a civil issue that had been pending, since last year, over a land dispute between neighbors.
Officer responded to the 100 block of North Market on a report of a possible runaway from Woodward. Located juvenile and was able to make contact with parents. Juvenile had not been reported yet but was not supposed to be in Madrid or at the location she was found. Juvenile was released to their parent.

Officer located a vehicle that had been called in suspicious on several occasions. The officer made contact with the occupants. They showed the officer all the Pokémon items that they had collected from that stop. Officer called the complainant and informed them, who stated that her kids used to do the same thing so it all made sense to her.
Officer was called about a dog running at large. Officer was unable to locate the animal.
Officer assisted city hall staff with a mouse in the office. The mouse was released unharmed on the bike trail to live a happy and healthy life.
Officer received a call from a construction company downtown working and was worried about a car parked in the area getting damaged. Officer located the owner and asked them to move to prevent any damage.
Officer spoke to a Madrid resident who had a raccoon in his attic. Officer loaned him a live trap to trap it and release it into the wild.
Officer was called to the High School parking lot for an accident between two students that happened in the morning. A student coming to school struck a parked car when he turned too sharp. Officer did a call for service on the incident.
Officer took a report at the Madrid Police Department for utility tampering.
Officer picked up stolen property from the 100 block of North Market Street and returned it to the owner.

Officer assisted a Madrid business with picking up some expired medication to properly dispose of.
Officer met with City Hall staff who turned in a lost/found debit card, that was turned into their office, after being found on the bike trail. Officer located a family member who contacted the owner who came to the office and picked it up.
Officer took a large quantity of prescription drugs to the Boone County Sheriff’s Office, and dropped them off for disposal for the drug drop off campaign.
Officer assisted Madrid Fire/Rescue and Boone County Ambulance, with a medical call in the 600 block of North Kennedy Avenue.
04/02/26
Officer met with a Madrid resident and released information requested in an open records request.
Officer attended a court proceeding at the Boone County Courthouse.
Officer was dispatched to an incomplete 911 call in the 600 block of South Kennedy Avenue. Officer made contact with the owner and everything checked out OK. Officer has been dispatched to this residence several times when it rains for phone issues.
Officer assisted a Federal Background Officer with a background check on a Madrid resident.
Officer was dispatched to the 100 block of North Market Street, for a report of a verbal argument in progress. Officer spoke to all parties until everyone was calm. Verbal only no charges
Officer assisted a motorist at 3rd and Kennedy whose vehicle had broken down in the middle of the road. While speaking with the driver, help arrived to push the vehicle out of way of traffic.
04/03/26
Officer responded to the 900 block of South Kennedy on a report of a reckless driver that was being followed by the caller. When the vehicles entered Madrid, the officer was able to get behind the reported vehicle and make observations of crossing the center line and doing a poor job of driving. The vehicle was stopped in the 300 block of East First Street. Following investigation, Divine Foncham, of Des Moines was arrested and booked into the Boone County Jail for Operating While Intoxicated by substance other than alcohol.
Officer responded to an emergent medical call on East 2nd Street.
Officer assisted deputies with a medical call in the Reddish addition.
Officer took a call reference a family member sending money to an online friend, possibly a scammer. It was explained to the caller that Officers have spoken to this subject in the past, informing them of the high likelihood of it being a scam, so if they continue to voluntarily send them money, there is nothing police can help them with. Officer gave the caller an additional resource to try.
Officer returned a call reference city ordinances pertaining to owning fowl in the city limits.
Officer picked up a dump key from city hall for a resident that could not make it there in time after work.

Officer provided traffic control for the Pony Express ride through town.
Officer conducted follow up and closing of investigation in the 100 block of North Market Street.

Officer responded to a residence on Robin Lane for a report of an open door at the dog outside unattended. Officer was able to get the dog inside and secure the door. It appeared the door had a faulty striker and fail to latch.
Officer responded to a business on 22nd Street reference kids riding dirt bikes on the property. Officer spoke to the young men about doing damage to the property and renewing their permission to use the property during this wet season.
Officer responded to a report of a possible road rage issue that occurred south of Madrid on 17, heading toward Madrid. The report was that a vehicle registered to a Madrid resident may have shown or indicated that they had a firearm in some way. That subject was located and interviewed by police. They did admit to having a firearm in their possession but denied using it in any way to intimidate the other party but stated that his holster would have been visible due to them at one point exited their vehicles and had a minor altercation that was arguing and pushing. Once it was determined where the incident occurred and that there was no immediate danger to parties involved or the public, parties were referred to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office as that is the jurisdiction the incident actually occurred.
