MADRID, Iowa—The Madrid Police Department has released information about the departments activities from May 4th thru May 10th.

05/04/26

Officer was dispatched to an emergency medical call in the 600 block of Maverick Lane.  Officer assisted Madrid Fire/Rescue and Boone County Ambulance on scene.  Patient was transported to the hospital for treatment.

Officer was dispatched to the 300 block of Locust Street after a resident took a fall outside.  Patient was checked over by Boone County Ambulance.  The patient did not want to be transported

Officers were dispatched to Dollar General for a report of a hit and run. An eyewitness saw a young male ram into the North Side of the Dollar General building. The driver did not stay to give his information instead he fled the scene. Officer searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect vehicle. Eyewitness were able to give a partial plate and description of the driver and vehicle. This is an ongoing investigation.

05/05/26

Officer followed up on a hit and run accident from yesterday and located the vehicle.  Officer spoke to the driver and the owner of the vehicle and received all of the information needed for the report.

Officer spoke to a staff member from the Cold Case Unit at the Attorney General’s Office, in reference to a call from January of 2016 in Madrid.  Officer pulled the report and shared all the information with the officer.

Officer was dispatched to a medical call in the 300 block of North Locust Street.  Patient had fallen yesterday and could not get up or walk today.  The patient was transported to the hospital for treatment.

Officer assisted Madrid, Huxley, and Slater Fire Departments, with a structure fire on 320th Street, due to the Boone County Sheriff Deputy’s all being on an emergency medical call in Ogden.

Officer assisted Madrid Fire/Rescue and Boone County Ambulance, with a medical call in the 400 block of West 7th Street.

Officer was dispatched to the 600 Block of West 8th Street. Upon Officers arrival there was a broken-down sprinter van in a resident’s private driveway. Homeowner was given the options of towing it at his discretion or allowing the company some time to come back and take possession of the vehicle. Homeowner advised he would let it be there for a while then have it towed from his property if they did not come back for it.

05/06/26

Officer assisted with the Bike/Walk/Roll from Edgewood Park to the Madrid Elementary School.  Students had a great turn out and made the route safe and fun. 

Officer received a request for a copy of a past report.  Officer forwarded the information to the company.

Officer returned a phone call to an out-of-state subject who was requesting information about a missing family member.  The subject had located the family member in another city prior to the call back.

Officer responded to the 600 block of South Kennedy on a report of a vehicle that may have had an unauthorized driver. Vehicle was located but was parked and left at a business. Driver was not observed.

05/07/26

Officer was dispatched to return a call to a Madrid resident.  Officer spoke to the Madrid resident and found the victim had her Pay Pal debit card used fraudulently to make several purchases on E-bay.  Officer did a report and gave the victim the information to give her bank.

Officer spoke to an insurance company who requested a past accident report, that occurred in the city limits.  Officer pulled the report and emailed the information to the company.

 05/08/26

A Madrid resident reported to the police department while she was walking on West 3rd Street,  she had a large dog appear to be bolting towards her, Officer spoke with the owner of the dog and advised him what can happen if a dog bites someone or another dog.

Officer spoke with a man who was almost scammed and had questions on how to protect himself in the future.

Officer spoke with a Madrid resident regarding an earlier call involving him. Officer explained actions of the police department and the possibilities if ordinances aren’t followed.

05/09/26

Officer was called to the public park inside of Meadow Estates Trailer Park for juveniles having disagreements and calling each other names at the park. Parents of juveniles wanted the other juveniles trespassed from their specific lots. Officer also advised parents would need to speak with management about the problem juveniles and have management contact the police department about trespassing them from the entire property.

Officer assisted Boone County Sheriff’s Office in an attempt to locate a Madrid resident and confirm if a camper that was found abandoned out in the county was stolen or left there by the owner.

05/10/26

Officer assisted Boone County Sheriff’s Office, in an attempt to locate a young female who had made suicidal threats and was possible at the High Trestle Trail. Officer searched the east side of the trestle and the landing and could not locate the female. While looking for the female dispatch received a call that she had made it home safely.
