MADRID POLICE DEPARTMENT REPORT

MADRID, Iowa—Madrid Police Department has released their summary of incidents handled over the period noted. Further information is available by clicking on the post summary below.

MPD Blotter January 12 – January 18, 2026

Burglary & Theft

  • 01/12/26 — Officer identified a woman caught on video stealing items from Dollar General on two separate days. She was trespassed from the business and warned she would be arrested for *trespassing* if she returned.
  • 01/13/26 — Two subjects involved in a Nevada PD burglary case turned themselves in at the Madrid Police Department. They were transported to Slater and turned over to Nevada PD.
  • 01/14/26 — Officer followed up with a theft victim after a related court case concluded in Boone County.

Public Safety Threats

  • 01/12/26 — Dispatch notified officers of pending charges from a neighboring county for two Madrid residents. Officers attempted to locate them but were unsuccessful.
  • 01/12/26 — Officer responded to suspicious teenagers near the storm shelter area at Meadow Estates Trailer Park. Juveniles were gone before arrival.
  • 01/13/26 — A caller reported a black car running a stoplight on Highway 17. Information was broadcast to area officers.
  • 01/14/26 — A Madrid resident reported harassment by text message from an unknown number. Officer attempted contact with no response.
  • 01/14/26 — Officer responded to a noise complaint in the 900 block of S. Kennedy Ave. The subject agreed to stop work for the night.
  • 01/16/26 — Officer took a report of suspicious behavior at Dollar General after an employee allegedly attempted to solicit photographs of a customer’s minor daughter. Management was notified.
  • 01/18/26 — Officer investigated a report of an erratic driver on Highway 17. The driver was located and found to be inexperienced and affected by weather conditions. No charges were filed.

Other Criminal Offenses

  • 01/12/26 — Officer assisted a victim of a past assault by answering case-related questions and referring him to the investigating officer.
  • 01/12/26 — Officer fielded a call regarding a disputed claim of a past domestic-related report. No record of such a report was found.
  • 01/16/26 — Officer assisted a man attempting to retrieve a vehicle loaned to a friend. Matter determined to be civil; Boone PD assisted in locating the vehicle.

Public Safety & Welfare Checks

  • 01/13/26 — Officer responded to a medical call in the 200 block of N. State St. Patient was transported by Boone County Ambulance.
  • 01/14/26 — Officer conducted a house watch request following a family member’s passing.
  • 01/14/26 — Officer checked on a residence on Locust Street after a report of an upstairs window left open in cold weather.
  • 01/15/26 — Officers responded to an incomplete 911 call in the 800 block of E. 8th St. No issues found.
  • 01/15/26 — Officer responded to a juvenile issue at the library after one child was struck with an object.
  • 01/16/26 — Officer provided a report copy to a parent regarding the library incident.
  • 01/17/26 — Officer provided a report copy to another parent involved in the same incident.
  • 01/18/26 — Officer assisted with a medical call on West North Street.
  • 01/18/26 — Officer responded to a medical pendant activation at the Cedars. Call was determined to be a false alarm.

OWI & Driving Offenses

  • 01/15/26 — Officer assisted a driver on Highway 210 whose vehicle had plastic obstructing movement. Vehicle was made drivable and the driver continued home.
  • 01/17/26 — Officer conducted a traffic stop in the Dollar General parking lot. No charges reported.

Nature of Incidents Reported

The week included several theft‑related cases, including a trespass order issued after repeated shoplifting and the turnover of two burglary suspects to Nevada PD. Officers handled multiple public safety concerns, including harassment reports, suspicious behavior, erratic driving, and juvenile incidents. Several welfare checks and medical calls were also completed. No arrests or major criminal charges were reported during this period.
