MADRID, Iowa—The Madrid Police Department has released a summary of the activity handled by the department April 6, 2026 thru April 11, 2026.

04/06/26

Officer received a call, from a Madrid resident, after his juvenile son fell in the shower.  The caller stated that he was diabetic and having a seizure.  Officer dispatched Madrid Fire/Rescue and Boone County Ambulance to the scene to treat the patient.  Patient was transported to the hospital.

Officer had an information sharing meeting with Boone County Dispatch, Madrid Fire, and the City.

Officer spoke to a juvenile at the park at City Hall and gave him a safety speech about his actions that the officer was witness to.

Officer returned a phone call to a Madrid resident who was seeking advice on a juvenile acting suspicious around her juveniles. Officer gave the resident options and advised to call if the action taken does not solve the issue at hand.   

04/07/26

Officer received a call from a Madrid resident who stated that her husband had fell and she needed help with a lift assist.  Officer assisted Madrid Fire/Rescue and Boone County Ambulance on the call.

Officer received a complaint about a vehicle that has been parked at East 8th and Maverick, with a flat tire.  Officer will locate the owner and get the vehicle removed.   

Officer filled a records request for a Madrid resident, after receiving a request for some past information on a call for service.

A concerned citizen left a voicemail on the police phone regarding a stop sign that had blown over at 2nd and Union. Officer collected the stop sign to give to public works in the morning to be replaced.   

04/08/26

Officer received a complaint of a pile of garbage in the 600 block of North Main Street. The caller stated that it was attracting rodents and was an eye sore.  Officer was unable to make contact with the owner, so he left an ordinance violation notice on the door to have them clean it up. 

Officer received a call of two dogs running at large on Highway 17 by the Madrid High School.  Officer was unable to locate the animals.

Officer followed up on a vehicle that was parked on East 8th Street with a Flat Tire.  Officer received a possible phone number for the subject and left him a message to return the call. 

Officer responded to the 800 block of Robin Lane on a report of a possible domestic between juvenile siblings involving a knife. Officer located subject who did have a knife in his possession. There were no direct threats made to any other person involving the knife. However, the juvenile was released to a parent for mental health evaluation.

Officer responded to the Madrid Police Department to discuss a previous case and fulfill a records request.

Officer responded to the 600 block of West 1st Street, on a report of possible trespass and potential harassment. Officer took information and served a Trespass Notification on the other party involved along with advising them to stop contact of any kind or possible Harassment charges could be filed.

04/09/26

Officer forwarded an officer’s report to the County Attorney’s Office, after receiving a request for an OWI report.

Officer performed a salvage inspection on a vehicle and signed off so the owner could get it registered through the DOT.

Officer met with Radar Tech staff and had all patrol radars certified and their annual inspections.

 04/10/26

Officer dropped off evidence to the County Attorney’s office.

Officer took a report of a traffic/ pedestrian hazard in the right of way on North Water Street. Officer contacted public works and had it removed.

Officer responded to a residence on North Main Street, to inspect and sign off on a remediation of a junk code violation issued 4/8. Officer spoke with another property owner in the area reference the same issue.

Officer took a theft report on South Union Street. A neighbor was identified as a possible suspect.  Officer made contact with the suspect and interviewed them at their residence. They admitted to the theft; the victim accepted the return of the property and an apology in lieu of criminal charges.

Officer performed extra patrol at The Cellar Winery due to Madrid High School prom being held at that location.

Officer returned property from the recent neighborhood theft. Also spoke with homeowners regarding options for them being upset about the neighbor’s security light.

04/11/26

Officer assisted deputies with a medical call on West North Street / 330th Street, immediately outside of city limits. The patient was transported by Bonne County Ambulance for treatment.

Officer met with a subject reference a protection order question.

Officer assisted with a child custody exchange in the 500 block of Milwaukee Street.

Officer attended Senior prom to assist staff with security.

Officer performed a welfare check on Maverick Lane. Subject was not home.

Officer spoke with a subject reference a parking issue and junk vehicles on property. The male advised he would take care of it.

Officer removed an office chair from the roadway on South Main Street and disposed of it.

The subject from the earlier welfare check call was located and advised to call family to assure them of their wellbeing.

Officer performed extra patrol at the Flat Tire due to possible domestic situation.

Officer checked on a vehicle with its hazards on, pulled off to the side on Southern Prairie Drive. Occupants were fine had just pulled off to use the phone.

Officer assisted Boone County Ambulance, with a medical call in the 900 block of South Kennedy. Subject was taken to the hospital by ambulance.
