MADRID, Iowa—The Madrid Police Department has released information on it’s activities for the week of April 13th thru April 19th.

04/13/26

Officer was called to the 600 block of Maverick for a child not wanting to go to school.  Officer made contact with the guardian who stated that the child ended up going to school.

Officer spoke to a Madrid resident and his juvenile son in reference to an on-going case.

Officer was called to the alley of the VFW for a chalk outline of a body on the concrete.  Officer spoke to the outline and found that he was just “dead tired” after playing cards all morning and drinking root beer.    

Officer responded to the 300 block of Springer Court, to assist Madrid Fire/Rescue and Boone County EMS with a medical emergency.   

Officer responded to East Eighth Street and Maverick Lane, to assist Boone County Sheriff’s Office with a traffic stop.

04/14/26

Officer received a call from a Madrid resident in reference to fraudulent charges on her credit card.  Since the subject lives in Dallas County, the officer informed her that she would need to contact them for the initial report.

Officer assisted the City Clerk with signing off on the road closure for the Madrid Labor Day Parade.  Officer also met with a Trooper with the Iowa State Patrol who signed off on the DOT paperwork. 

Officer received a call from a land owner just South of the City who thought that he may have uncovered a gravesite.  Officer called and spoke to the Boone County Sheriff, who sent down the lead Detective to look at the scene.  Officers will do additional investigating in the case.  

Officers were called to the Dollar General for a scam in progress.  Officer spoke to the victim and warned him that he did not win $5.5 million dollars and a new truck and advised him not to send the $500 worth of Amazon cards that the scammer was requesting for him to deliver the check and truck.  Officer left the scene but had a feeling the subject was still sending the $500 and would be in to try and report the scam the next day.

Officer located young child walking on or around East Third Street alone. Officer was able to locate the child’s house and found that the mother had went on a walk while her teenage son was home with the child. The child went outside to find his mother and the older teenage brother did not notice that he went outside. Officer able to make contact with the mother who was returning home.

04/15/26

Officer assisted military staff, with a background check on a past Madrid resident, for a job-related clearance position.   

Officer sent the County Attorney both incident reports and video evidence on an on-going case.

Officer was dispatched to an emergency medical call in the 600 block of South Washington.  Officer stood-by with the patient until Boone County Ambulance arrived.  The patient was transported to the hospital for treatment. 

Officer addressed a child safety issue presented by a concerned citizen.

04/16/26

Officer assisted Madrid Fire/Rescue with a medical call in the 300 block of North Locust Street.

Officer advised several juveniles riding motorbikes on North 22nd Street, to find a better place to ride as 22nd is a busy street with cars turning off of Highway 17 and presents a safety hazard.

04/17/26

Officer responded to Kennedy and Kingman for a report of a cat in the roadway that had been struck by a vehicle. The deceased animal was removed and disposed.

Officer responded to the 200 block of South State Street for a civil stand-by.

Officer responded to the intersection of North Kennedy and East North Street for a property damage accident between a pickup and a semi.

04/18/26

Officer responded to the 600 block of North Kennedy to assist with a medical emergency.

04/19/26

Officer took a barking dog complaint on Robin Lane.

Officer located a vehicle that was called in for its driving in the 100 block of North State Street. Office advised the driver of the complaints that were made. Driver was dropping off a friend and he was looking for the address.
