04/27/26

Officer was dispatched to a reckless driver on Highway 210, coming into town.  The vehicle drove through a stopped school bus stop sign.  Officer was unable to locate the vehicle. 

Officer spoke to a Madrid resident who requested a copy of a call for service from over the weekend, dealing with harassment.  Officer delivered the copy of the report to the subject.

Officer assisted Madrid Fire/Rescue and Boone County Ambulance, on a medical call in the 400 block of Newton Road.  Patient was transported by ambulance for treatment.

Officer assisted with traffic control, on a funeral procession, that turned on to Highway 17 and went Northbound to the cemetery.   

Officer met with a Madrid resident and assisted him with inspecting an ATV and filling out DNR registration paperwork so that he could license it to be on the roadway. 

Officer spoke with resident in the 600 block of South State Street, about yard debris.

Officer responded to the 600 block of Fairview for a vehicle unlock.

04/28/26

Officer was dispatched to a careless driver Northbound into town, on Highway 17.  The information on the location of the vehicle was delayed.  Officer was unable to locate the vehicle. 

 Officer spoke to Elementary School staff, in reference to students, especially on Wednesday early out, doing inappropriate behavior on the trail.  The kids are climbing the concrete overpass on State and Main Streets.  Officer have spoken to two groups of kids the last two weeks when he caught them doing these dangerous actions.  School staff will send out information to parents to talk to their kids about not climbing on these structures for safety reasons.  

Officer spoke to a Madrid resident who made a safety complaint about kids riding the electric scooters in the city.  She stated that she watched them run stop signs and drive reckless with no safety equipment.  Parents:  Please educate your children on safety issues.  All of these must follow all laws of the roadway and must yield to all traffic. 

Officer ran stationary radar at the bike trail crossing on Highway 17.  Officer initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle after they stopped on the traveled portion of the roadway and allowed a bike to cross.  Officer educated them on the Iowa law and gave them a verbal warning for the infraction.

Officer spoke with subject about property that was damaged while being stored in the county. Referred him to Boone County Sheriff’s Office.

Officer responded to the 600 block of North Kennedy to assist with a medical emergency.

Officer responded to the police department to take information and initiate a criminal investigation for an incident that occurred on 04-25-26.

04/29/26

Officer was dispatched to a medical call at the Cedar’s.  Officer assisted Boone County Ambulance at the scene.  Patient was transported to the hospital for treatment.

Officer assisted a Madrid resident with live trapping a raccoon that was doing damage to his shed.  The animal was relocated at the river where he/she could raise his/her family in a better environment.   

Officer was dispatched to a local business for an emergency medical call.  The patient was transported to town after farm machinery fell on him and crushed him.  Officer informed dispatch to call a helicopter to transport the patient to a Des Moines hospital for emergency treatment.  Officer did ground control to land and take-off the helicopter.  Great work by Madrid Fire/Rescue and Boone County Ambulance staff. 

Officer assisted Madrid Fire/Rescue and Boone County Ambulance on an emergency medical call in the 200 block of South Green Street.  The patient was transported to the hospital for treatment.

Officer received a call from a Madrid resident that was served a notice for several junk vehicle ordinance violations.  Officer met him at his residence.  Two vehicles had already been removed off of the property and he was planning on having two more removed after this weekend.  He will continue to work on it in the following weeks until it is cleaned up.

Officer followed up on a Madrid residence that was served a notice on two junk vehicle violations.  She stated that she contacted the owner of one of them and notified him that she had been served.  She also stated that she was working on the other vehicle to get it operational.  Officer informed her that he would be checking back next week and that he needed to see progress or would be starting the official process on having them removed.

Officer was called to the trail overpass on Main Street.  The caller stated that a child was throwing rocks over the side onto the trail.  She stated that she told them to stop and he continued to throw a big rock over the side.  After law enforcement was called, the child ran from the scene.  Officer made contact with the juvenile and gave him a ride home and spoke to mom and dad whom stated that they would take him back and clean all the rocks up and handle the discipline.

Officer received a call for service in the 600 block of Maverick Lane; upon arrival Officer learned a mother and juvenile were in an argument and the juvenile left the residence. Officer searched the area but did not locate the juvenile. Officer received a call a short time later stating the juvenile had returned home.

Officer assisted Madrid Fire/Rescue and Boone County Ambulance staff, with a medical call in the 600 block of North Kennedy Avenue.   

04/30/26

Officer received a complaint from a city park employee, of damage to the new tennis courts at Edgewood Park.  Kids are riding their electric scooters on the surface and tearing it up along with leaving black marks.  Parents, please warn your kids that if they are caught doing damage to city property, that they will be charged for the crime and for the cost to repair the damage. 

05/01/26

Officer took a report of an attempted scam a subject received over text message from the Iowa DOT. The DOT confirmed they will never text.

Officer responded to the area of Kennedy for a report of possible reckless driver/road rage coming into Madrid. Officer did not locate the vehicle.

 05/03/26

Officer responded to a residence in the Meadow Estates for a welfare check. The subject was found to be OK and advised they would speak with the caller to let them know.

Officer assisted a man with jump starting his golf cart.

Officer spoke with a man reference an ongoing parking issue and complaints. Officer advised him there would be a citation issued if there was another infraction.

Officer returned a call to a nonprofit organization that wished to do an event in Madrid.

Officer responded to the 600 block of Maverick Lane to assist with a possible fire call. No fire, no issues.
