Madrid shuts out Central Decatur at home

The Madrid football team posted a 49-0 shutout victory over Central Decatur on Friday, Oct. 4, at home.

The Madrid football team posted a 49-0 shutout victory over Central Decatur on Friday, Oct. 4, at home. 

Quarterback Preston Wicker continued to lead the Tiger offense as he was 6 for 8 for 143 passing yards and 2 touchdowns. 

Wicker also led the running game with 6 carries for 106 yards and 3 touchdowns. 

Others contributing to the offense were Easton Halverson who had 11 carries for 88 yards and Emerson Bridgewater who had 2 receptions for 66 yards. 

Loren Velky pulled down a 43-yard reception for a touchdown, and Jevyn Severson had a 7-yard reception for a touchdown. 

For the Tiger defense, Terrin Lawrenson had 5 tackles, including 3 solo tackles and 3.5 tackles for loss while Halverson and Kinnick Grim had 3 tackles each.  

Wicker had 1 sack, and Bridgewater was 5 for 6 on PATs. 

The victory brings Madrid to 4-2 overall while Central Decatur dropped to 2-4 overall.  Madrid hits the road to take on North Mahaska on Friday, Oct. 11.
