The Madrid Tigers volleyball team earned two victories during the opening day of the West Central Activities Conference Tournament Monday, October 13.
Madrid opened the day against Ogden, falling 0-2.
Iyla Fine led the team with 9 assists and 10 digs.
Lauren Dvorak powered the offense with 8 kills, and Caia Byriel added 2 ace serves.
The Tigers bounced back in their second match, defeating Panorama 2-0.
Rylin Velky guided the offense with 7 assists, while Fine contributed 5 kills and 12 digs.
Dvorak was a force at the net with 3 blocks, while Byriel served 3 aces on a perfect serving day.
The team served an impressive 95 percent overall.
Madrid closed out the day with another sweep, beating Interstate 35 2-0.
Fine again led the way with 7 assists and 13 digs.
Byriel tallied 6 kills, and Dvorak added 3 blocks.
Fine, Velky, and Savannah Bradley each served an ace and maintained 100 percent serving accuracy, helping Madrid finish the day with another 95 percent team serving rate.
Madrid improved its record to 6-23 on the season.
The Tigers now look to carry this momentum into Day 2 of the tournament, concluding later today.
