Malone finishes second at Ogden Invitational

The Boone girls wrestling team finished 10th as a team with 73 points at the Ogden Invitational on Saturday, January 10.

The Boone girls wrestling team finished 10th as a team with 73 points at the Ogden Invitational on Saturday, January 10.  

Boone’s top finisher of the day was Poppy Malone at 105 who stormed into the finals behind a first‑round bye and two pins as she secured 2nd place. 

Abigail Molitor at 140 opened with a pin then battled through the consolation bracket with a medical forfeit win, a decision and a fall, finishing 4th overall. 

Gracie Vodenik at 155 lost in the first round, picked up two byes, then got a fall before securing 5th place with another fall. 

Brooklynn Elliott at 235 opened with a pin, added another fall in the consolation bracket and closed the day with a 7th‑place victory by pin. 

Cadence Heggen at 190 delivered two pins and ultimately placed 8th. 

Emersyn Zehner at 135 opened with a loss but rebounded with a fall in the first consolation round before being eliminated in the second round. 

Johanna Meeks at 120 dropped her opening match and received a bye in consolation before being eliminated in the second round.

The Toreadors travel to Pella tomorrow for a quad with Pella, North Polk and Winterset.
