BOONE, Iowa—Marjorie L. Fitzgerald-Dixon, age 93, of Boone, passed away Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames.
Marjorie was born July 9, 1932, in Boone, the daughter of Adam N. and Carrie Mae (Brixey) Tilley. She attended school in Boone and graduated with the class of 1950 from Boone High School.
Marjorie was united in marriage to Leo Fitzgerald in 1952, they were blessed with five children. As a couple they worked in the first-ever Casey’s General Store in Boone for ten years. They then opened L&M Gas and Grocery in Boone and ran that for 28 years. All five of their children worked for Casey’s and at L&M too. Leo passed away in 1986.
In 1993, Marjorie married Clarence Dixon. They enjoyed taking bus trips. Clarence passed away in 2015.
Marjorie’s family was very important to her and she enjoyed spending time with them. She loved watching the Hallmark Channel.
She was preceded in death by her parents; step-father, George Hedblom; sister and brother-in-law, Marlene and George Lestina; brother and sister-in-law, Raymond and Sherry Tilley; son-in-law, John Ahrens; and son, Tom Fitzgerald.
Marjorie is survived by her children, Cheryl Ahrens, Denise Fitzgerald, Mike (Tami) Fitzgerald and Diane (Joe) Davis; ten grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson and numerous other family and friends.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at 11:00 am at the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel, 1006 6th Street, Boone, with Rev. Timothy Johnson officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Following the service, burial will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Boone.
