Marianne Stotts

BOONE, Iowa—Marianne Stotts, 92, of Boone, passed away Thursday, April 17, 2025, at the Eastern Star Masonic Home in Boone.

Marianne was born July 2, 1932, in Bagley, IA, the daughter of Fred and Myrtle (Zaruba) Gardner. After graduating from high school, she went onto the Iowa Methodist School of Nursing in Des Moines, where she earned her RN Degree.

Marianne was united in marriage to George Stotts on September 26, 1953, in Bagley. They made their home and raised their family on a farm north of Boone, until moving to Courtyard Terrace Senior Assisted Living at the Eastern Star Masonic Home in 2012.

Marianne was a long-time member of the Boone First United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School for a number of years, and sang at church services. She also helped with the Messenger, an information letter for church activities.

Marianne enjoyed all types of social events, sewing, traveling to see family, feeding the birds and especially hummingbirds and cardinals.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 62 years, George Stotts in 2016.

Marianne is survived by her children, Charles (Gayle) Stotts of Boone, Joyce (Jack) Steck of Apple Valley, MN, Jim (Lynn Ann) Stotts of Boone and Steve Stotts of Mason City; six grandchildren, Matthew (Lisa) Stotts, Julie (Bryon) Porter, Amanda (Brian) Elliott, Emily (Ryan) Crawford, Jake Stotts and Steve Stotts Jr.; 12 great-grandchildren; and her sister, Grace Stark of Madrid.

A funeral service will be held at 1:30 P.M. Wednesday, April 23, 2025, in the Chapel at Eastern Star Masonic Home, 715 West Mamie Eisenhower Avenue, Boone, please enter through Door #1. Rev. Brian Bopp, Chaplain with Suncrest Hospice with officiate the service. Visitation will be from 12:30 to 1:30 PM Wednesday in the Chapel. Burial is at Mineral Ridge Cemetery, Ridgeport.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall Streets in Boone. Online condolences may be left to Marianne’s family at www.schroedermemorialchapel.com.
