BOONE, Iowa—Boone County Auditor, Phil Meier, announced today that he plans to retire as county auditor at the end of his current term. First elected in November 1992, he has successfully run 7 campaigns and will complete 28 years as county auditor on December 31, 2020. Meier wants to thank the residents of Boone County for the opportunity to serve them, and for their continued support.
Having been involved with the Boone County Supervisors for his time as auditor, he also announced today that he will be seeking one of the Democratic Party nominations for County Supervisor in the June 2, 2020 primary election. Philippe and his wife, Annette, live at 528 Crawford St. in Boone. They have 4 grown children and 12 grandchildren (1 in Heaven).
Philippe graduated from Iowa State University in 1974 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agricultural Education. His continuing education includes agricultural law, certification as State Election Administrator, served as legislative liaison for Iowa Association of County Auditors (ISACA) for seven years. He has attended most of fall and spring schools sponsored by Iowa State Association of Counties (ISAC) and summer schools for ISACA. One can always learn from fellow county officials more effective ways to deal with problems. Meier believes we are never too old to learn.

I communicate effectively and am able to build strong teamwork with fellow employees in both a coordinating and supervising role. I have lived and worked in Boone and Central Iowa throughout my adult life, and I wish to return the benefits I have received through public service.”
