The Boone Toreadors knocked off Humboldt in an instant classic Wednesday night in Boone, 3-2 in 11innings. The game was tied at 1 until Humboldt was able to plate a run in the top of the 11th to lead 2-1 heading to the bottom. Tyler Lindahl led off with a base hit (Drew Hayworth came in to courtesy run) Ryan Bowers struck out, but when the 3rd strike was dropped, Hayworth advanced to 2nd base. Landon Youngblood struck out and with two outs, Reid Carr hit a ground ball to 2nd base that was misplayed for an error and allowed Hayworth to score from 2nd, Carr advanced to 2nd base when the throw went over the catcher’s head. Boone with the win advances to the 3A State Tournament in Sioux City at Lewis and Clark Park, on Monday July 21st against Wahlert Catholic at 11:30am. The Toreadors are 23-9 now on the season. Humboldt ends their year at 27-7.
