KWBG 05/18/23

BOONE, Iowa—Michael V. Keraus, 80, of Boone, Iowa, passed away at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames, Iowa, on Tuesday morning, May 16, 2023.

He was born on November 15, 1942, in Mason City, Iowa, the son of Verle and Elaine (Buntenbach)
Keraus.

On July 10, 1966, he married Susan V. Parks at First Evangelical Free Church in Boone, Iowa. (It was 103 degrees that day, and there was no air conditioning in the church!)

Mike graduated from Garner High School and Iowa State University. He enlisted in the Air Force following college graduation, at which time he and his wife Susie moved to Neah Bay, Washington. The following year Mike was stationed in Vietnam. Upon returning home, he concluded his Air Force career in Spokane, Washington.

Mike went on to have a rewarding career as an international salesman with Wilson Foods. He ultimately
retired from Quinn Machine and Foundry in Boone, Iowa.

Mike was a longtime member and faithful servant at the First Evangelical Free Church in Boone.

Mike’s favorite hobby was fishing at his Minnesota cabin, but most of all, he loved and valued time with
his family.

He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. The love of Mike’s life from the age of 21
was Susie. They were an example of true love to all who knew them.

Mike’s parents preceded him in death.

Mike is survived by his wife of 57 years, Susie; two daughters, Barb Farup and husband Matt, Martha
McGuigan and husband Craig; four grandchildren, Jack Farup and wife Erin, Brady Farup and fiance Jesse Renner, Will McGuigan, and Pearson McGuigan; one great-grandchild, Porter Farup.

Memorial services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 20, 2023, at the First Evangelical Free Church in Boone, with Pastor Tom Mason officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Battle Lake, Minnesota.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to the First Evangelical Free Church to be used towards
renovations of the fireside room.

Schroeder-Stark-Welin Funeral Home, 609 7th Street, Boone, Iowa is assisting the family with these arrangements.
