Michael Swarts

BOONE, Iowa—Michael E. Swarts, 73, of Boone, Iowa, passed away at his home in Boone on Friday, June 24, 2022.

He was born on October 16, 1948, in East Moline, Illinois, the son of Harold Eugene Swarts and Juanita Irene Skelton. On December 29, 1990, he married Sue A. Swarts at the Marion Street Methodist Church in Boone. Michael was a graduate of East Moline High School. He worked for Ryko Manufacturing in Grimes, Iowa.

Michael was a member of Cornerstone Community Church in Boone, Des Moines River Ridge Riders ATV Club, Rail Car Riders, and the Sportsman’s Club. He also served on the City of Boone Parks Board. Michael also like to do projects at home. Devoted husband to Sue.

Michael is preceded in death by his wife, Sue Swarts, and his parents, Harold and Juanita Swarts.

He is survived by his daughter Michelle (Donnie) Corben of Des Moines, IA; Grandchildren: Nathen of Urbandale, IA, Kimberly (Andrew) Jillson of Des Moines, IA, Step-children: Cyndi (Kenny) Dierking, John (Amy) Ward, and Bill (Danielle) Ward of Boone; Grandchildren: Keaton and Sophie Dierking, Taylor Ward, Ashley (Kirby) Johnson; Peyton, Trysten and Ethan Ward; Emily, Chelsea, Alexis, and Elijah Corben. Great-granddaughters Carter Jillson and Magnolia Johnson.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 9, 2022 at Cornerstone Church in Boone with Pastor King Smith officiating. Visitation with the family present to greet friends will be before the service from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Private family interment at Violet Hill Cemetery in Perry, Iowa, will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the family to use at their discretion.
