Mike Cleland

OGDEN, Iowa—Michael “Mike” Cleland, 72, of Ogden, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, October 20, 2024, at the King’s Gardens Campus of Perry Lutheran Homes, Perry, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 24, 2024, at the Community United Methodist Church in Ogden. Rev. Heidi Farmer will officiate. Burial will follow at Mineral Ridge Cemetery in Ridgeport. Military Graveside Rites will be conducted by the Boone Veterans Council. Michael Duane Cleland was born on December 3, 1951, in Iowa City. Following his education, Mike served in the United States Army as a medic during the Vietnam era. He served his Country from May of 1971, until his honorable discharge in September of 1973.

On August 1, 1981, Mike was united in marriage to Beth Crowell in Beaver, Iowa. The couple made their home in Ogden. Mike worked as a claims manager for Dallas Insurance Company in Dallas Center for many years.

Mike had a great sense of humor and easily made friends with just about anybody he encountered. He enjoyed fishing, and collecting guns, coins, antiques, and many other collectibles.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Beth Cleland of Ogden, IA; two sons, Court (Melissa) Cleland, and Cameron (Amber) Cleland; six grandchildren, Tristan, Tanner, Alexander, Knox, Amalee, and Hattie Cleland; siblings, Richard (Jackie) Cleland, Raymond Cleland, Karolyn Kinkner, Kathy (Phil) Farmer, William Kinkner, Nancy (Ray) Leonard, Sally (Kelly) Young, Bill (Brandi) Dennis, and Steve (Amy) Christenson; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
