On Sunday, the Iowa Department of Public Health reported 382 new cases of COVID-19, a decrease of 176 in the last twenty-four hours, but pushing the pandemic total to over 363,000.  Statewide, seven deaths were attributed to coronavirus on Saturday, including two in Polk County.  With one additional death on Sunday, 5,471 Iowans have succumbed to COVID-19.  Since 5:00 on Friday afternoon in central Iowa, 171 new cases of coronavirus have been identified in Polk County; 44 in Dallas; 39 in Story; three in Webster; one in Greene; none in Hamilton, and just two this weekend in Boone County for 2,589 overall.  Only 196 Iowans are hospitalized with coronavirus.  That is a jump of 15 from Saturday, but more than 315,000 have recovered, including 2,261 in Boone County alone, where the seven-day positivity rate has dropped a full percentage point in the last week to 3% and 2,598 residents have now received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.
