BOONE, Iowa—Nancy L. Engleen, 78, of Boone, passed away Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at her home.
Nancy was born September 3, 1947, in Boone the daughter of Roy and Iris (Van Pelt) Johnson. She attended school in Boone and graduated with the class of 1965 from Boone High School.
Nancy was employed at Bornes in Ames, Archway in Boone and retired after 19 years from ISU’s dining hall service.
Nancy was united in marriage to Gail “Rod” Engleen June 25, 1967, at the First United Methodist Church in Boone. They welcomed four children into their lives and shared 55 years together. She loved her life with Rod and enjoyed traveling to small towns in their later years. She cherished spending time with her children and grandsons. With friends, she enjoyed meeting up for coffee, meals, and shopping. A trip with friends to Mackinaw Island in 2024 was a joy for her to experience.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Rod in 2022, siblings Juanita Leaming, Duane Johnson, Matilda Johnson and Dwight Johnson.
Nancy is survived by her four children, Marty (Virginia) Engleen of Houston, TX, Chad Engleen of Boone, Brian (Cari) Engleen of Boone and Melissa (Neal) Valcroft of Minneapolis, MN, two grandsons, Dylan Engleen of Boone and Brayden Engleen of Boone.
A funeral service will be held Monday, December 22, 2025, at 1:00 PM at the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel, 1006 6th Street, Boone, with Pastor Phil Waldo officiating. Visitation will start at 12:00 PM Monday at the funeral home and continue until the time of the service. Interment will be at the Glenwood Cemetery in Ogden.
