
The Ogden softball team ran into the top team in the West Central Activities Conference on Thursday, falling twice to No. 5 Van Meter in a conference doubleheader.
The Bulldogs dropped the opener 11-3 before falling 13-3 in the nightcap.
Ogden now sits at 13-12 overall and 6-9 in conference play, while Van Meter improved to 15-4 overall and 11-1 in the WCAC.
Game 1: Van Meter 11, Ogden 3
Ogden totaled six hits in the first game but was unable to keep pace with Van Meter.
Dakota Jones and Harleigh Janssen led the way at the plate with two hits each.
Jones added an RBI and a double, while Janssen also drove in a run.
Aubrey Leonard and Sophie Seligman each chipped in with a hit and scored a run.
Katie Wilcoxson took the loss in the circle, recording one strikeout.
Game 2: Van Meter 13, Ogden 3
Van Meter also won the second game.
Sophie Seligman had two doubles and a run scored.
Jones finished with two hits and an RBI.
Leonard added another strong performance with a hit and a run scored, while Grace Christensen contributed a hit.
Ogden also received RBIs from Lauren Mathews and Adi Banks.
Sidney Crane crossed the plate for a run, as well.
Clara Kruse took the loss, striking out one.
The Bulldogs are scheduled to travel to Woodward-Granger (9-10 overall, 7-6 conference) for another conference matchup Monday.
